Embracing Your Health
It’s simple but not easy to be healthy. Eat. Sleep. Move. These are the three pillars of health so why is it so damn hard to live a healthy lifestyle? My opinion? Priorities, but even that isn’t simple. You could have two different people who both want to be healthy but their situations vary in their ability to support healthy habits.
Stillness
I have incorporated the practice of grounding into my life and I have recognized that the idea behind it goes very well with the Digital Independent Life. It all started with seeing people that I follow and respect share their experiences with stillness and the processes that they embrace that foster that kind of experience. One of the stillness practices that I have embraced is called grounding.
Practicing Gratitude
My good friend and fellow DI Steve Foran, CSP has a daily email called Daily Gratitudes. I was invited to contribute to one week of his emails. There is so much power in putting your gratitude on paper and making it available for others to see and consider their own gratitude.
Sustain, Live, Thrive.
You do not need to make 7 figures to be “Rich”. Not even remotely close. To be Free is to be Rich. It is important to understand the nuances of individual circumstances but, contrary to what seems to be advertised by a lot of "Million Dollar Solopreneurs" and 10Xers, you can live an amazing life of fulfillment and substance with a reasonable cash flow.
Establishing Your Digital Independence Day
The day you decided to embrace technology as a means to do work independent of rules, location, hours, and tasks defined by another person and/or business is the day you became digitally independent.
Independent but not Alone
Just because you don’t need help, doesn’t mean that you work without support. It also doesn’t mean that your work doesn’t help others be more confident and free.
What is a Digital Independent?
A Digital Independent is a professional who embraces technology as a means to do work independent of rules, location, hours, and tasks defined by another person and/or business. In essence, this person dictates their own life and determines the direction, pace, and purpose of their professional work. They are solely responsible for creating a system that produces intended results - working how they want, where they want, when they want, with whom they want and on what they want.
Embrace Life as a Digital Independent
In 2022, I fulfilled a bucket list item and finally wrote a book on my experience of becoming and living as a Digital Independent. The following briefly summarizes what you can expect in each chapter.
STOP the Sunday Scaries
The Sunday Scaries is a real phenomenon and has been studied by many including psychologist Susan Albers, PsyD, with physical symptoms also seen in people suffering from anxiety… because it is anxiety. She explains that this particular anxiety is triggered by the reality of switching from one state (relaxed) to another (work).
Life of the Digital Independent Artist
We need to recognize and celebrate the creatives that live a DI Life and remind them they are not alone and are a valued member of this community.
Three Casualties of #workanywhere
The physical office is not dead - but it will be different.
